How to use a frame tent to enjoy it for years to come

First, set up and anchor your tent correctly

The first and most important thing in using a frame tent is its correct setup. Yes, we know it sounds trivial, but it is truly worth emphasizing. Always set up the tent according to the manual; this way, you will avoid both damage to your product and potential injuries or other losses. See the user manual.

Although this topic was discussed in the manual, in our opinion, it requires separate treatment. Frame tents can be anchored in at least four ways. The first is driving pins into the eyelets in the base of the leg. This solution works well when you cannot use guy ropes, for example, because they would block a passage.

The second classic way is to attach guy ropes to the corners of the roof and anchor the tent using them. If you want to achieve more stable mounting, use both of the mentioned methods. Then the tent will withstand wind gusts up to 50 km/h. Sometimes, however, conditions can be extreme; then it is worth using an additional safety kit, which secures the tent against wind gusts up to 100 km/h (in accordance with the PN-EN 13782:2015-2007 standard). This last possibility applies to the Premium PRO 3×3, 3×4.5, and 3×6 tents.

Secondly, take care of your tent regardless of the conditions

You need to take care of your tent – another cliché, yet so often overlooked. Tents are exposed to various weather conditions – rain, snow, sun, and mud. Let’s look at each of these situations individually:

Rain – tents are meant to protect against rain, but we must protect them from moisture. This applies, of course, to situations when we pack the tent away for storage until “next time.” In such cases, it is essential to dry it thoroughly. If this is not possible at the moment and you pack a wet tent, unfold it again as soon as possible and let it dry. This is a crucial part of frame tent maintenance.

Snow – you must absolutely remove any accumulating snow from the tent. Otherwise, the cover or the structure may be damaged. What thickness is already dangerous? Anything above 2 cm.

Sun – if possible, choose a shaded spot to set up your tent. Do not leave the tent outside when you don’t need it on a given day. Assembly takes very little time, so do not expose the product to the sun longer than required to ensure tent longevity.

Dirt – keep your tent clean on an ongoing basis. Fresh stains are easier to remove. Moreover, there are situations where dirt should be removed immediately. This primarily applies to bird droppings, which can discolor the fabric. For cleaning a pop-up tent, use a cloth or sponge with warm water. If the dirt is heavy, use a detergent intended for fabric cleaning. The cover should also be rinsed well, preferably 2-3 times in warm water and once in cold water. Do not use pressure washers, as you may damage the fabric’s waterproofing. Also, do not use solvents, chlorine, or other bleaches.

Thirdly, store your tent properly

Store the structure flat or in an upright position; do not weigh it down with other objects. To make things easier, you can store the structure with the roof still attached. This is a convenient solution if you need to set up the tent frequently. However, when putting your equipment away for the winter, remove the roof and, after cleaning and drying, store it separately. This is a key step in proper tent storage.
