It is incredibly rare that we design an advertising tent from scratch for a specific client. Usually, the project focuses solely on the graphic design, and that is exactly what we will focus on today. How do you design effective custom printed advertising tents? Read our tips!

Use Design Templates

Designing an advertising tent is done using pre-prepared templates that help in the correct placement of graphics. Each template features three color-coded areas:

Gross Area (Bleed) – The line indicating the project’s cut before sewing. Ensure your background extends all the way to this line.

Net Area (Trim Line) – The line indicating where the sewing occurs. Any graphics transitioning between different parts of the product should end here.

Safe Zone – This is where you should place your logos and key elements. This ensures that nothing is cut off or placed too close to the edges.

Of course, at Inventini, you don’t have to do this yourself – our graphic designers can prepare the project for you based on your guidelines. However, if you have your own experienced designers, we provide ready-to-use templates, and the notes above will be extremely helpful for them.

Ensure High-Quality Graphics

Unlike billboards, event tent graphics are viewed from both a distance and up close. Therefore, to ensure a flawless presentation, they must be of superior quality. Always use or provide us with vector graphics. For raster images, the resolution should be at least 72 DPI at a 1:1 scale.

What does this mean in practice? If you want to print a photo on a standard 3×2 m wall, the image should be approximately 6000×4000 px to look sharp. Meeting these requirements can sometimes be challenging with free stock photos.

Our designers will always warn you if a photo or graphic is of insufficient quality—ultimately, the decision to proceed with them rests with you.

When it comes to logos, color accuracy is paramount. To ensure the final print matches your expectations, please provide your Brand Book. If you don’t have one, please specify your colors using CMYK or Pantone Solid Coated values.

Limit the Amount of Information

Focus on the essentials. When passing by a tent, a customer usually gains only a “general impression.” If there is too much detailed information, they simply won’t notice it, let alone remember it.

The most critical elements are your logo, company name, and potentially a brand claim. Sometimes you can even omit the name if your logo is highly recognizable or already contains the brand name. As for contact details, if they are necessary, choose only one – the most important channel for you: a website URL, email address, or phone number.

If you need to display a specific event name on the tent, consider using interchangeable Velcro banners. This way, your tent remains a versatile marketing tool that can be reused for different occasions—simply by swapping the banner.

A single wall, or even the entire set of walls, can also function as an “interchangeable” element. This is an ideal place (especially on the lower panels) to display a set of sponsor logos or co-organizers – such as mandatory EU funding information.

Summary: High-quality photos, intriguing patterns, or graphics create a much better impression and result than a multitude of text and information. Minimalist inscriptions on a white background also look very elegant. Here are some examples:

Choose the Best Location

Designing a frame-based advertising tent (pop-up tent) is relatively simple. The entire tent serves as an excellent advertising surface. The roof, the valance, and the walls are all perfectly suited for this purpose. Each of these planes provides high visibility and plenty of space.

For aesthetic reasons, it is worth ordering a roof with double-sided printing. This ensures it looks great from the inside as well. However, it is better to place a photo or a pattern on the inside of the roof rather than a logo or text. The interior walls, on the other hand, are the ideal place for those elements. Just like the roof, the walls can also be printed on both sides.

When it comes to inflatable tents, the roof and walls are key for placing graphics. The legs of inflatable tents, however, are a completely different story.

In the case of constant-air tents (the Fan Line at Inventini), the legs meet at the peak on the outside of the roof. They have a significant diameter, allowing you to place a pattern or a small symbol on them (no larger than one section of the leg – the so-called “barrel”).

For sealed-pressure tents (the Pascal Line at Inventini), it is best to use color only. The tent legs are usually black, but there is nothing stopping them from being any color you choose. This allows you to either mask them (by matching the leg color to the roof) or, conversely, add an eye-catching colorful accent.

Colorful prints are the domain of single-mast star tents. Much like with frame tents, the entire surface can be covered with a full-color custom print. This design can either flow seamlessly across the individual sections (wedges) of the tent or follow a layout divided into 8 distinct parts. See the examples below.

Interestingly, the largest star tents are usually monochromatic with a subtle logo, and to be honest, those are our favorites. In white, beige, or light grey shades, they look exceptionally elegant at formal events. The more colors or patterns you add, the more the star tent takes on a playful, vibrant character.
